At the heart of the area stands Dogo Onsen Honkan, a magnificent three-story wooden bathhouse whose architecture instantly transports visitors back to the Meiji era.
道後温泉の魅力は、温泉そのものだけではありません。
夏目漱石の小説『坊っちゃん』の舞台としても知られ、
街の至るところに文学と歴史の香りが残されています。
Dogo Onsen is not only about bathing.
It is also deeply connected to Japanese literature, most famously as the setting of Botchan by Natsume Sōseki.
Traces of history and culture can be felt throughout the streets.
レトロな坊っちゃん列車は、かつて松山を走っていた蒸気機関車を再現したもので、

The nostalgic Botchan Train, a replica of an early steam locomotive, runs through the area and has become a beloved symbol of Matsuyama.
