Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Garden
福岡市動植物園の紹介ですが、まずは7年ぶりにアジアゾウが来園したニュースからです。
ミャンマーからやってきたアジアゾウですが、親子を含めて４頭が来園し、うち一頭がゾウヘルペスで死亡・・・
いまは３頭で新しく作られた飼育展示施設で元気に暮らしています。
この展示施設の特徴が、アジアゾウならではの斜面を登ったり下りたりすることと、水遊びが大好きなこと。
動物たちの得意な行動をよく理解できる施設です。
The introduction of Asian elephants to Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Garden marked an important moment, as it was the first time in seven years that elephants had returned to the zoo. The elephants arrived from Myanmar, with a total of four individuals, including a parent and calf.
Sadly, one elephant passed away due to elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus (EEHV). Today, the remaining three elephants are living actively in a newly constructed enclosure designed specifically for their needs.
One of the key features of this exhibit is the use of gentle slopes, allowing visitors to observe the elephants walking up and down inclines—behavior that is characteristic of Asian elephants in their natural habitat. The facility also highlights their love of water, with ample space for bathing and play.
This thoughtfully designed enclosure helps visitors better understand the natural abilities and behaviors of Asian elephants, making it one of the most engaging exhibits in the zoo.
お客さんは坂の上にある展望施設から眺めたり、もちろん地上からも見ることができるので、お気に入りの場所で過ごすことが出来るようになっています。
とくに地上での水遊びしているシーンは迫力があり、見るものを魅了するはず。
とても仲の良い親子を観察するのはゾウが大好きな人にとっては、とても素敵な時間になるでしょう。
Visitors can enjoy watching the elephants from a viewing platform located on higher ground, as well as from ground level. This allows each visitor to choose their favorite spot and spend time observing the elephants in a relaxed way.
In particular, the scenes of the elephants playing in the water at ground level are powerful and captivating, leaving a strong impression on anyone who sees them.
Observing the close bond between the parent and calf is a truly special experience. For elephant lovers, it offers a wonderful and memorable moment.
